Owls held to two hits
Reckling Park: Middle Tennessee's Peyton Wigginton toss a two-hit shutout and his Blue Raiders teammates backed him with a 13-hit attack to blank Rice 7-0 in the opener of a three-game series at Reckling Park on Friday in front of 3,783 fans.
The Details: Wigginton held Rice hitless until Guy Garibay Jr. laced a single to left with two outs and did not allow a runner past second until Connor Walsh tripled with one out in the ninth. Rice starter David Shaw fanned a career-high five in four innings of work, but the Blue Raiders touched him for runs in the second, third and fourth to give Wigginton all the support he would need. Alex DeLeon followed Shaw and worked five innings in relief.
