Game One Box Score
In Brief: Harvard held off a pair of late challenges from Rice to sweep a doubleheader from Rice on Saturday at Reckling Park.
Game One: Rice starter Roel Garcia and Harvard's Tim Williamson battle to a scoreless draw through the first four innings, with Garcia working around a leadoff double in the second, stranding the bases loaded and stranding two more in the fourth. The Crimson broke the scoring ice in the sixth with a pair of unearned runs off Brandon Deskins. After holding the Owls to just one hit over the first five frames, Rice broke through against Williamson in the sixth when Austin Bulman drove home Benjamin Rosengard with a two-out single to center. The Owls threatened in the bottom of the seventh, putting a pair on off reliever Chris Clark, but Graiden West lined out to first baseman Logan Bravo who was able to double up Ben Dukes at second to end the game.
Game Two: Harvard touched starter Thomas Burbank for a solo homer in the first and a pair of runs in the third and extended the lead to 6-0 before Rice chipped away with a pair of runs in the fifth. Pierce Gallo opened with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Gallo moved up to third on a fly out scored on a fielder's choice by Rosengard who then scored on a double down the left-field line by Bulman. Rice added a third run in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Guy Garibay Jr. but saw a threat end when Drew Woodcox over ran second on a single by Justin Dunlap that would have loaded the bases.
