Men’s Basketball to Participate in Scout Jacksonville Classic

HOUSTON — The Rice Men's Basketball team will participate in the Scout Jacksonville Classic, played at Florida State College in Jacksonville, Fla., Nov. 22-25.
The Owls are one of seven teams in the field, and will play three games in four days. Rice will be joined by UIC, Lamar, Miami (Ohio), New Mexico State, Ohio, and Robert Morris. The complete schedule will be announced at a later date.
UIC was 19-16 last year, including 12-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Flames reached the MVC Championship game last year, and earned a bid to the National Invitational Tournament.
Lamar finished last season 12-19, including 7-15 in the Southland Conference.
Miami (Ohio) went 32-2 last year, including a perfect 18-0 in the Mid-American Conference. The Redhawks earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament, reaching the second round, and were ranked as high at 19th in the country.
New Mexico State finished 16-16, including 8-12 in Conference USA.
Ohio was 15-17 last year, and 9-9 in the Mid-American Conference.
Robert Morris went 22-11 last year, and finished second in the Horizon League with a 13-7 record.
