HOUSTON- Rice is set to compete in the 2013 C-USA Women's Cross Country Championships at the Eagle Point Cross Country Course on the campus of University of North Texas Saturday, Nov. 2, in Denton.

The women's 5K race begins at 10 a.m. with an awards ceremony following the championships at 11 a.m. Admission is free.

This year's race will include 15 teams as opposed to 12 last season. Rice, ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA South Central Regional Poll, will face tough competition in UTSA (No. 5 in USTFCCCA South Central Region), North Texas (No. 7 USTFCCCA South Central Region), Tulsa (No. 10 in USTFCCCA Midwest Region), Southern Miss (No. 13 USTFCCCA South Region) and UAB (No. 15 USTFCCCA South Region)

Last season the Owls finished fourth in the C-USA Championships at Southern Miss, marking the eighth straight season of finishing in the top four.

Rice finished second in both the Rice Invitational and Islander Splash earlier this fall. In Houston, three freshmen (Cali Roper, Katie Jensen, Hannah Kay) finished in the top 15 with Roper placing third overall. Jensen then won the 5k race in Corpus Christi with a time of 18:04.4, nearly 18 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.
