Rice put together a strong finish at the Chile Pepper Invitational, beating schools such as Texas Tech, North Texas, Baylor and Houston on the way to 16th place.
"We were missing one of the twins, Chrissy Wassef, due to injury. We are hoping to have her back by the C-USA meet," said Rice Head Coach Jim Bevan. "The course was a bit muddy and slow...Audrey Wassef continues to improve and I was excited about Johanna Ohm coming back better and better after an 18-month hiatus. We hope to be closer to full strength at the C-USA Championship."
Audrey Wassef led all Rice runners with a 38th place finish, running a 22:12.3 in the 6 km race. Marie Thompson finished in 66th with a time of 22:40.
Allie Schaich and Farrah Madanay broke 24 minutes with times of 23:08.5 and 23:50.4 respectively. Johanna Ohm ran a 23:54.1. Lindsay Miller and Laura Michel finished with times of 24:08.6 and 24:38.6.
The Owls take to the course again on Oct. 29, as they participate in the Conference USA Championships at Hattiesburg, Miss.
