LEXINGTON, Kentucky - Rice junior middle blocker Jillian Humphrey was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association Southwest Region Honorable Mention on Tuesday, marking the second year in a row the Shoreacres, Texas native was recognized by the organization.
Humphrey started and played in all 30 matches, leading the Owls in total kills (337), kills per set (3.04), blocks (123) and blocks per set (1.11). Humphrey ranked 122nd in the nation in blocks per set (1.12), which was seventh-best in C-USA.
Humphrey set a career-high with 21 kills against Houston Baptist on Sept 13 and also set a career-high with four solo blocks against Southern Miss on Oct. 6. She is set to be one of 12 Owl student-athletes to return for the 2014-15 season.
