Rice volleyball athletes Nancy Cole and Megan Murphy were named to the AVCA All-Midwest Region team on Tuesday, and Jillian Humphrey was named Honorable Mention All-Midwest Region. Cole makes her third appearance on an All-AVCA Team, while Murphy makes her second appearance.
Nancy Cole ends her Rice career as the career record holder in hitting percentage, at .320. She posted 3.53 kills per set in 2012, as she was named First Team All-C-USA. She finishes her career with 1279 career kills, and 397 total blocks. She was selected as C-USA Offensive Player of the Week twice during 2012, and became the 13th Rice player to reach 1,000 career kills on Sept. 7.
Megan Murphy led C-USA in assists at 11.04 per set, as she was named C-USA Setter of the Year and First Team All-C-USA. She was named C-USA Setter of the Week five times during her junior season, and posted a triple double against UAB on Sept. 23.
Jillian Humphrey was named Second Team All-C-USA for her 2012 season, posting 2.44 kills and 1.18 blocks per set. She ranked second in C-USA in blocks, and was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 8.
