McNamara Named Academic All-C-USA

Junior outside hitter Laurie McNamara (Coppell, Texas) has been selected to the Conference USA Volleyball All-Academic Team as selected by the league's sports information directors.

The sport management major has a 3.85 GPA and has earned her first All-Academic honor after claiming the C-USA Academic Medal and a spot on the Commissioner's Honor Roll last year.

McNamara also ranks second on her team in total kills with 278 (2.48 kills per set) and points with 349 (3.12 points per) as well as in the C-USA Top 20 in blocks (0.79) and service aces per set (0.22). She leads Rice with 25 service aces.

The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team. Student-athletes from nine different schools have been recognized.
