Mikesky Selected to C-USA All-Academic Team

Rice sophomore outside hitter Leah Mikesky earned C-USA All-Academic Team honors on Monday.

IRVING, Texas - Rice sophomore outside hitter Leah Mikesky was named to the 2014 Conference USA All-Academic Volleyball Team, the league office announced on Monday.

Mikesky, a sophomore from Schulenburg, Texas, leads the Owls in kills (369), kills per set (3.42), total points (409.0), points per set (3.79) and total attacks (1,055). The Florida State transfer is also second on the Owls in total digs (302) and fourth in total blocks (50).

Mikesky boasts a 4.13 GPA in kinesiology and ranks sixth in the league in kills per set and points per set.

Rice volleyball has had at least one student-athletes named to the C-USA All-Academic Team in nine consecutive seasons and Mikesky becomes the 13th Owl overall to earn C-USA All-Academic honors. 

The Owls begin the C-USA Tournament this Friday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. (CT) when they take on the No. 5 seed Marshall Thundering Herd in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
