Rice had four players named to the 2012 All-Conference USA Volleyball teams, the most all-league selections for the Owls since 2009. Nancy Cole and Megan Murphy were named First Team All-C-USA, with Laurie McNamara and Jillian Humphrey earning second team honors.
Nancy Cole makes her third appearance on an All-C-USA Team and her second consecutive First Team All-Conference USA selection. Megan Murphy makes her second All-C-USA Team appearance and her first appearance on the first team. She was named C-USA Setter of the Week five times during the season including a C-USA record four consecutive times. She leads C-USA in assists and ranks 33rd in the NCAA. She posted a triple double at UAB, and ranks 10th in C-USA in hitting percentage.
Jillian Humphrey makes her first appearance on an All-C-USA Team with a second team selection a year after being named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. She ranks second in C-USA in blocks, and was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 8. She has the second-highest hitting percentage in a C-USA match this season, and is tied for 10th on Rice's single-season blocks list.
Laurie McNamara was named to the All-C-USA Second Team for her first career All-C-USA selection. She was named to the All-Magnolia Invitational and All-Rice Invitational II teams, and ranks 17th in the league in hitting percentage. She posted 12 double-digit point matches and 11 .300+ hitting percentage matches. She posted eight blocks against Air Force, the third-most by a C-USA player in a three-set match this year.
