  • The Rice Owls volleyball team closes out the 2015 C-USA season this week with a pair of matches, beginning Thursday at Tudor Fieldhouse vs. UTEP on Senior Day. Rice is coming off a 3-0 sweep of Marshall, clinching a berth at the C-USA Championship. The Owls are 9-2 at home this season and have won three straight matches at Tudor Fieldhouse.
  • Thursday will mark the final home match for seniors Kyley Reed, Kimberly Vaio and Noelle Whitlock, who will be honored at a pre-game ceremony. Then on Saturday, the Owls travel to Birmingham to face the Blazers in the final match of the regular season.
  • Rice leads the all-times series over UTEP, 32-9, including a 3-0 win in El Paso back on Oct. 18. The Owls own a 12-6 all-time advantage over UAB and Saturday will be the first match between the two teams this season.
  • A win on Thursday would give the Owls 20 wins for the fifth time under head coach Genny Volpe. Rice has won 20 or matches 13 times in school history.
