Rice Takes On Tulsa And SMU With Conference USA Title On The Line
The Owls make their last regular-season road trip of the season, taking on Tulsa and SMU, and would win the C-USA title with two victories this weekend. The Owls have won one C-USA title, the 2009 Tournament Title, and have never won the conference regular season. The Owls are looking for their first 20-win season since 2009.
Gunnin' For That No. 1 Spot
Rice could win its second C-USA title and first regular season title this weekend. Rice must win both matches, if Tulsa beats Houston to force a tie and become C-USA Co-Champions. In that scenario, Rice wins the tiebreaker and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament if the Owls defeat Tulsa in three or four sets, or if the combined point differential in a five set victory is 11 or more.
Rice's Fight Never Dies
Rice has not lost consecutive matches since Aug. 31-Sept. 1, when it fell consecutively to then-No. 7 Purdue and then-No. 12 Washington. The Owls are 6-0 coming off of a loss since then, winning 18 of 20 sets in those matches.
