Complete CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
HOUSTON – Rice volleyball senior outside hitter Leah Mikesky was one of seven student-athletes selected to the District 7 CoSIDA Academic All-District, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
A Kinesiology major with a 4.01 GPA, Mikesky was named to the CoSIDA All-District team for a second straight year after earning All-District and All-American honors in 2015. The Schulenburg, Texas native will yet again be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors this season.
Mikesky ranks third in Conference USA with 12 double-doubles and earlier this season surpassed 1,000 career kills. She ranks second on the Owls in total kills (302), kills per set (3.21), and total points (326.0). Mikesky is also third on the Owls in total digs (244) and digs per set (2.60).
In addition to her CoSIDA academic accolades, Mikesky is also a two-time C-USA All-Academic Team selection, has twice been named to the C-USA Academic Honor Roll, twice a Rice Scholar Athlete and has also been named the Rice Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Mikesky and the Owls take on No. 21 WKU this Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. (CT) in Bowling Green, Ky.
