  • The Owls return to Tudor Fieldhouse for a pair of critical C-USA matches this week, beginning Thursday versus Southern Miss (16-8, 6-4). The Golden Eagles are currently in third place in the C-USA standings and have won four of their previous five matches. Rice leads the all-time series over Southern Miss, 11-4.
  • Then on Saturday the Owls will face current C-USA leader WKU in a rematch of last year’s thrilling C-USA title game. WKU, currently ranked No. 22 in the nation, has won 17 straight matches entering play on Saturday with 10 of those wins going three sets.
  • Senior outside hitter Noelle Whitlock is now just 23 digs shy (977 total) of reaching 1,000 for her career. The Riverside, Calif. native has already compiled 266 digs this season, 2.74 per set, and is attempting to join fellow senior libero Kimberly Vaio as the other Owl to join the 1,000-career digs club. Vaio accomplished the feat back in mid-September, becoming the 15th Owl in school history to do so.
  • The Owls check in at No. 81 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings released on Monday. Rice trails only WKU (No. 20) amongst C-USA schools in the rankings.
  • Rice ranks in the Top-20 in the nation in five different categories entering play Friday. The Owls rank third in both total team assists (1,288) and total team kills (1,368). Rice also comes in at 19th in assists per set (13.28) and 15th in total team attacks (3,534). The Owls are also 20th in team digs with 1,534.
  • The Owls have won 10 C-USA weekly awards by six different players this season, the most in the league.
