Houston - The Rice Owls volleyball squad, through its Dig Pink efforts, raised over $2,000 for the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer research and awareness.
"We are happy to be able to raise so much money for breast cancer research," said Genny Volpe, Rice head volleyball coach. "I think it says a lot about our Rice fans and how generous they are and how much they care about this cause."
Rice's dedicated Dig Pink match was vs. Memphis on Oct. 21, which the Owls won 3-0. The Rice Volleyball Team continues to be excited about being a part of the Side-Out Foundation and the Dig Pink campaign. Education is the key to increasing awareness and knowledge about breast cancer. Donations received will go to the Side-Out Foundation, which in turn awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
