IRVING, Texas – Rice sophomore Madison McDaniel was named the Conference USA Setter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
McDaniel received the honor for the fourth time this season by accumulating 137 more assists this past week over 13 sets played (10.54 aps). McDaniel also totaled 45 total digs and in the process recorded three more double-doubles to take over the Rice lead with 13 double-doubles this season.
A native of The Woodlands, McDaniel notched 55 assists in the Owls’ 3-2 win over North Texas last Wednesday, marking the sixth time this season she has eclipsed 50-plus assists in a single match. McDaniel currently ranks second overall amongst all C-USA setters in assists per set (10.62) and is third in assists per set (10.19) during league action.
The Owls play two matches at Tudor Fieldhouse this week, beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. versus Southern Miss, followed by a 2 p.m. match on Saturday against No. 22 WKU.
