Blasier Named C-USA Setter of the Week
Redshirt freshman put up 12.57 assists per set in wins

IRVING, Texas - Redshirt freshman Sara Blasier earned Conference USA Setter of the Week honors for leading Rice University volleyball to a pair of Conference USA home wins. Tulsa's Kellie Culbertson earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades and East Carolina's Shelby Beasley claimed the defensive award.
The Hartford, Wis. native directed the Rice offense with 88 assists on the week, averaging 12.57 per set. Blasier got into the attacking action as well, posting 11 kills without any errors on 17 attacks on the week, good for a .647 hitting percentage.
In the Owls' four-set win over Marshall on Friday, she notched four kills on six attacks with three blocks and 53 assists in Rice's four-set win.
Blasier added seven kills on 11 attempts with 35 assists and two blocks at the net in Sunday's sweep over Charlotte as Rice moved to 3-3 in Conference USA play for the season.
In 2013, Blasier averages 9.5 assists per set with 41 kills and a .257 hitting percentage. She adds 1.76 digs and 0.31 blocks per set.
Rice returns to the road next weekend as the Owls head to UTSA on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest before taking on UTEP on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
