*The Rice Owls volleyball team will carry a seven-match win streak into this weekend when they travel to the Sunshine State for a pair of C-USA matches. On Sunday the Owls will take on FIU at 12 p.m. (CT), followed by a rare Tuesday 11 a.m. (CT) match at Florida Atlantic. The game against FAU was originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7 but was pushed back due to Hurricane Matthew.
*Rice is 3-0 all-time against FIU and 5-0 versus Florida Atlantic.
*The Owls seven-match win streak marks the 13th time in school history the Owls have built a win streak of seven or more matches, and is the longest since the 2014 season The longest win streak in school history is 12 straight set in 1995.
*Rice junior setter Madison McDaniel was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced. McDaniel, from the Woodlands, Texas, earned her sixth career C-USA weekly award (first defensive) by posting a team-best 30 digs this past weekend to go along with seven blocks. The junior standout also compiled 73 assists and now has a league-best 13 double-doubles.
*The Owls rank 80th in the first release of the RPI standings.
*McDaniel currently ranks 11th in the nation in total assists (713), which is good enough for first in Conference USA.
