IRVING, Texas – Rice setter Julianna Dole earned the team’s second Conference USA Freshman of the Week honor this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Dole, the reigning C-USA Setter of the Week, joined freshman middle blocker McKay Kyle as Rice Freshman of the Week honorees following a weekend in which the Santa Clarita, Calif. native compiled 124 total assists (12.40 per set) and 24 digs over 10 sets.
Dole set a C-USA individual match-high with 69 assists in the Owls’ five-set loss at North Texas last Friday. She then followed that career-performance with 55 more assists in the Owls’ thrilling five-set win at Charlotte while posting a career-high 18 digs for her third double-double of the year.
Dole is now the league leader in assists per set (12.56) and second in overall assists (201) in C-USA matches.
The Owls (13-5, 3-1) will return to the court this Sunday when they host Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m.
