Sept. 24, 2012

Megan Murphy was named C-USA Co-Setter of the Week, receiving at least a share of the award for the fourth straight week, a C-USA record for the most consecutive Setter of the Week awards. Murphy posted a triple double against UAB, the first for Rice since 2006.

Murphy posted only the 10th triple double in the nation this season in the game at UAB, and the first for Rice since Rachel Lopez had one on Sept. 24, 2006 at Memphis. The junior from Duncan College had a career-high 10 kills on .500 hitting, a season-high 58 assists, which is tied for the most in a C-USA match this year, and 10 digs against UAB.

Murphy contributed 127 total assists in helping the Owls go 3-0 overt the course of the week, tied for the league lead, and hit .286 this week, the second-best mark in the league. She hit .417 with seven kills, 34 assists and two service aces at Memphis. She added 35 assists and 12 digs against Houston, one of six double doubles on the year for her. Murphy now has 14 matches of 30+ assists this season and four with 50+ assists.

Murphy leads C-USA in assists, and picked up the 2,000th assist of her career against UAB. Murphy ranks seventh in league matches in hitting percentage, and third in assists per set.

The Owls host SMU on Friday, September 28 at 7 p.m. in Tudor Fieldhouse.
