HOUSTON - Following a 1-2 stint at the BYU Invitational, the Owls return to Tudor Fieldhouse to host Houston Baptist in the home opener on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Owls are a perfect 8-0 all-time against the Huskies and will be meeting their crosstown foe for the first time since 2003.

*Rice freshman libero Lee Ann Cunningham was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a weekend in which she totaled 54 digs (4.5 digs per set) in her first three collegiate matches. The Louisville, Ky. native shined brightest against No. 13 BYU, collecting a match-high 28 digs in a five-set loss to the Cougars. The 28 digs were the most by an Owl in a single match since current volunteer assistant Daniela Arenas posted 35 digs in a win over HBU on Sept. 13, 2013.
*After 38 kills in her first three matches, senior opposite hitter Chelsey Harris is just 37 kills shy of 1,000 for her career. Fourteen other Owls have accomplished the feat in school history with Jillian Humphrey the last to do so in 2014.
*Through one weekend of play the Owls rank 10th in the nation in total blocks (37.0) and 20th in blocks per set (3.08), both tops in Conference USA.
*Following their match vs. HBU, the Owls go back on the road for three matches at the Tiger Invitational. After a match against Utah on Friday, the Owls will play a Saturday doubleheader beginning with Illinois State, followed by a 6:30 p.m. showdown versus Missouri on the SEC Network+.
