HOUSTON, Texas – Keith Anderson has joined the Rice volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, announced head coach Genny Volpe on Wednesday.

“I’m very fortunate to have the opportunity to join the program and staff as a volunteer assistant,” Anderson said. “I’m looking forward to learning from Genny, Melissa and Zheng. There’s a lot of talent in the program this year and high expectations. I can’t wait to contribute to the success.”

A native of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Anderson has an extensive background in coaching club volleyball for both the Brazos Valley Juniors and the Woodlands WAVE for the past four years. He has served as both head coach and top assistant while helping lead four teams to qualify for the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships in the past three years.

Anderson played on the Texas A&M men’s club team and was a member of the 2010 national championship squad, earning First-Team All-American and All-Tournament Libero honors. Prior to that, Anderson played club at Sky High out of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

“Keith has great energy, a solid volleyball background and love for the game,” Rice head coach Genny Volpe said. “He wants to be a college coach and his desire and skill set will be a great addition to our staff as he kicks off his college coaching career.”

Anderson graduated from Texas A&M in May with a degree in Sports Management and two minors in Coaching and Psychology.
