HOUSTON, Texas - Paula Harris has joined the Rice volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Genny Volpe announced on Friday.
Prior to spending the 2014 season as an assistant coach at Pittsburg State, Harris spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at TCU (2012-13). While with the Horned Frogs, Harris assisted in all aspects of the program, primarily opponent scouting, video breakdown for player development and planning team travel.
While in Texas, she also coached with the Texas Advantage club team, serving as the head coach for West 15 club and an assitant for the West 16 club. She served as the camp director for the Prentice Lewis Volleyball Camp and has been an instructor at several camps, including Wichita State, North Texas and Central Missouri.
Perhaps Harris' best experience comes from her experience playing for the Central Missouri Jennies from 2008-2011. A middle blocker, Harris was a two-time AVCA All-America selection and a four-time All-MIAA selection. She finished her career as the all-time top point scorer for the Jennies. She led the team to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including Elite Eight appearances in 2010 and 2011.
Harris graduated from Central Missouri in 2012 with a bachelors of science in physical education in 2012 and earned her masters degree in liberal arts from Texas Christian.
Harris is currently also coaching with the Houston Skyline Juniors.
