HOUSTON – Rice volleyball senior standout Leah Mikesky was awarded a $7,500 scholarship by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which can be used towards any part-time or full-time study at a university or professional school.
Mikesky, from Schulenburg, Texas, was a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team selection after earning a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Kinesiology. Mikesky was also named to her third consecutive Conference USA All-Academic Team and was selected to the District 7 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
A member of the C-USA Second Team in 2016, Mikesky ranked third in the league with 15 double-doubles and was second on the Owls in total kills (368), kills per set (3.12) and total points (398.5) and third on the team in total digs (318) and digs per set (2.69).
At the teams annual awards banquet Mikesky earned the Commitment Award, Hard Hat award and the Scholar Athlete award.
