Harris to Participate at U.S. National Team Tryouts

COLORADO SPRINGS, Col.- For a second consecutive year Rice sophomore outside hitter Chelsey Harris will participate at the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts, USA Volleyball announced.
Harris, who last year was later chosen to play with the U.S. College National Team, will be amongst 232 athletes from 90 colleges from across the country for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team, the U.S. College National Team program and for the U.S. Women's Junior National Team for athletes born in 1996 or 1997.
The tryouts will take place Feb. 20-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly and his staff will direct the entire tryout process, which will be available online at www.teamusa.org. The tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session.
The U.S. College National Team program has three competition options: the World University Games Team (12 athletes: June 28-July 14), the Tour of China (12 athletes: June 12-26) and the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships (36 athletes: June 21-30).
Harris, a Houston native, was named Second-Team All-C-USA this past season and ranked first amongst all outside hitters in the league in hitting percentage (.343).
