NEW ORLEANS, La.- Rice defeated Tulane 3-1 on Friday night at the Hertz Center for its 10th win in 12 matches. Nancy Cole and Jillian Humphrey both posted 15 kills.

The Owls (15-9, 8-2 C-USA) remain in sole possession of second place in Conference USA, one game behind Tulsa. The Green Wave (4-17, 2-8 C-USA) lost its fifth straight match.

Cole hit .429 (15K-3E-28TA), and posted double digit kills for the ninth time in 10 C-USA matches. The senior from Duncan College posted five blocks, her fifth 5+ block game in league play.

Humphrey hit .323 (15K-5E-31TA) posting 15+ kills for the third time in league play. She was responsible for over 10 of Rice's points for the 10th time in 12 matches.

Megan Murphy posted 44 assists, her 12th straight game with 30+ assists, a run that includes every C-USA match to date and hit .444 (5K-1E-9TA) in the match. The junior from Duncan College had a season-high 15 digs and posted her 10th double double of the year.

Daniela Arenas posted 16 digs for the seventh time in eight matches. Noelle Whitlock had 14 digs for her fourth straight double digit dig match. Mariah Riddlesprigger reached double digit digs for the third straight match with 12.

The Owls hit .394 to take the first set 25-18. The Green Wave took the second set 25-20.

Rice came back after intermission taking set three 25-18, and took set four 25-20.

The Owls return to action on Sunday, October 19 as they travel to El Paso to face UTEP at 1 p.m. CT.
