HOUSTON- Nancy Cole had 12 kills on .500 hitting, but Rice's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Cal State Northridge.

The Owls fall to 5-7 on the season, while the Matadors improve their record to 7-3.

Reigning two-time C-USA Setter of the Week Megan Murphy had six kills and 24 assists. Daniela Arenas led the Owls with 12 digs, and Mariah Riddlesprigger reached double digits with 10 digs.

The Matadors took the first set 25-17, despite four kills from Cole.

The Owls lost the last two sets by a combined total of five points, as the last two frames featured 19 tie scores and 10 lead changes.

Cal State Northridge took the second set 25-23, and the third set 25-22.

The Owls return to the court to take on Houston Baptist at 7 p.m. Friday for the second game of Rice Invitational II.
