2010 Commonwealth Games Women's Long Jump Results in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

Delhi, India - Former Rice Owl track and field great Alice Falayie captured the gold medal in the long jump on Sunday at the XIX Commonwealth Games held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, India. This marks the second time that Falaiye has won gold at a major competition. She also was the gold medal winner in the long jump (6.43m/21-1.25) at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Falayie, competing for her native Canada, won the event with a mark of 6.50m/21-4 achieved on her sixth and final attempt to surpass India's Prajush Maliakkal (21-2.75/6.47). She holds Rice's indoor (2001, 6.51m/21-4.25) and outdoor (2000, 6.63m/21-9) records for the long jump and is a two-time NCAA Outdoor All-America (2000 and 2001).
