Waite to Compete at World University Games

Current volunteer track and field assistant coach and former Rice All-American, Lennie Waite will be competing for Great Britain at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Wednesday, August 17 in the 3000m steeplechase. She holds the Rice 3000m steeplechase record with a time to 9:50.48.

Waite is eligible due to the fact that she is a doctoral candidate and student at the University of Houston. She is also a former NCAA Women of the Year nominee, one of 10 Division 1 honorees from all sports, combined. Waite, from Austin, Texas, but born in Scotland, was a 2009 NCAA Indoor All-America in the mile with a sixth place finish.
