EUGENE, OR - Former Rice Owl Ariana Ince placed fifth in the qualifying round of the women's javelin at Thursday U.S. Olympic Team Trials to earn a spot in Saturday's finals.
Ince, who graduated from Rice in 2011, posted throws of 54.32m (178-2), 54.13m (177-7) and 55.80m (183-1), the latter of which allowed her to move from sixth to fifth place. The Gonzales, Texas native entered competition seeded fifth overall (59.68m)
Saturday's javelin finals will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday from the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field.
