Rice Track and Field Alumnae Funmi Jimoh and Ariana Ince posted top 3 finishes at the USA Track and Field Championships this weekend. Jimoh also qualified for the IAAF World Championships, to be held in Moscow, Russia from August 10-18.
Jimoh, a volunteer coach for the Owls, jumped 22-0 ¼ to finish third in the long jump. Her mark ranks third in the world this season. She qualifies for the IAAF World Championships for the third straight iteration of the event, having participated in the 2009 and 2011 events.
Ari Ince finished second in the javelin with a throw of 185-11. She is eligible for the IAAF Championships if she meets the standard of 62.00 m (203-5 feet) with a future throw.
