Owls Compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional

Rice had several athletes compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Norman, Okla., on Friday at the University of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.

In the 5000m, Rice had three runners in the top 10. Callie Wells placed fifth (16:28.35), placing sixth was Britany Williams (16:34.19), and Allison Pye was seventh (16:39.71).

In the pole vault, Ariana Ince placed 11th with a height of 3.81m/12-6, while Shannon Moran finished 21st in the long jump with a mark of 5.40m/17-8.75.

Shakera Reece finished fourth in heat one in the 100m with a time of 11.68 and did not advance to Saturday's final.

Freshman hurdler Luci Cincinatis placed sixth in heat three of the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.11 and did not qualify for Saturday's final.

On Saturday, the Owls will feature three competitors in the 3000m steeplechase in Lennie Waite, Becky Wade, and Nicole Mericle.
