Eugene, Ore. - The Rice Owls women's track and field team had three athletes competing on day two of the NCAA West Preliminary Round, held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
Heather Olson, in the 3000m steeplechase, posted a time of 10:46.74 in placing 40th. Senior Sarah Agara finished 44th in the triple jump. Agara posted a mark of 11.59m/38-0.5 on her first attempt, before fouling on her last two tries. In the pole vault, senior Ariana Ince and Cleona Oliver both no heighted. Ince, the Conference USA champion, passed on the opening height of 3.70m/12-1.5, then missed on all three attempts at 3.85m/12-7.5. Oliver missed on each of her three attempts at 3.70m/12-1.5.
On Saturday, the final day of the competition, sophomore Sharae Robinson will compete in the discus, while senior Nicole Mericle will run in the 5000m. Also, Ugo Nduaguba will compete in the men's triple jump.
