Tulsa, Okla. - The Owls' women's track and field team is in second place after day one of competition at the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field meet. Rice scored 15 points, all from the 10,000m race with a first and a fifth. East Carolina leads with 20 points. SMU is tied with Rice.

Sophomore Becky Wade won the 10,000m with a C-USA meet record time of 34:41.14 to rack up 10 points. Wade's teammate Allison Pye was fourth with a time of 36:16.50 to tally five points for the Owls. The previous C-USA meet record was held by South Florida's Tara Quinn with a 35:05.71 set in 2002.

Despite season-best marks in the hammer throw by Katie Dollinger and Tina Robinson, the Owls were not in the points. Dollinger set a school-record with 49.14m/161-3 effort to place 10th and Robinson was 11th at 48.24m/158-3.

In the heptathlon, Andrea Jackson is in fourth place with 2,749 points. Britney Blodget sits in eighth place (2,636 points), while Bridget Ugoh is 10th (2,596 points). Jackson was first in the shot put (11.92m/39-1.25).
