CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Rice Owls sent both Heather Olson and McKenzie Johnson to the Virginia Challenge this weekend in preparation for the C-USA Outdoor Championships and both came away with solid results.

Olson placed seventh overall, fifth collegiately, in the 1500m with a personal career-best time of 4:22.45 for the top mark in C-USA this season. Olson's time was also good enough for eighth all-time in Rice history.

Johnson, a sophomore vaulter, continued her stellar season with a fourth place finish in the polve vault, clearing 4.10m to finish with the second-best collegiate mark. Only Duke's Megan Clark 4.30m finished with a better height. It marked the fifth time this season that Johnson cleared 4.10m or better. Johnson still holds the top mark in C-USA this season at 4.21m.

Johnson, Olson and the rest of the Rice Owls now set their eyes on the C-USA Outdoor Championships, which will run this upcoming Thursday-Sunday (May 15-18)
