IRVING, Texas -- Rice sophomore jumper Daisy Ding was named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Australian native continued her stellar outdoor campaign by winning the triple jump at the Victor Lopez Classic with a victorious leap of 12.79m (41-11.05). Ding's jump moved her into eighth place in the nation while also claiming the top spot amongst all C-USA competitors.
Ding also placed second in the high jump, recording a height of 1.73m on her fourth attempt. She still holds the second-best mark in the high jump in C-USA this season, clearing 1.77m at the TSU Relays.
A handful of Owls will be competing at this Saturday's Texas Invitational in Austin. Rice will host the J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Friday, April 24.
