COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Rice redshirt junior Katie Jensen earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors with a 12th place finish in the 3000m Saturday evening at Texas A&M’s Gilliam Indoor Stadium.
Competing against the nation’s best, Jensen, from The Woodlands, Texas, finished the race in a time of 9:20.50. Colorado’s Dani Jones won the race on the final lap with a time of 9:09.20, followed by Missouri’s Karissa Schweizer (9:09.33) and Oregon’s Katie Rainsberger (9:09.87).
Jensen had qualified for the race by breaking the school record with a time of 9:05.66 back on Feb. 26 at the Boston University Last Chance Meet.
Named the Conference USA Female Track Performer of the Meet, Jensen won both the mile and the 3000m and ran the final leg of the winning distance medley relay team at the C-USA Indoor Championships.
