IRVING, Texas – Rice junior (indoor) Katie Jensen was selected the Conference USA Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday (2/7).
Just one week after earning her first career C-USA weekly honor, The Woodlands, Texas (College park HS) native repeated the feat after a standout performance at this past weekend’s Charlie Thomas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
Jensen was involved in a pair of victories, including a first place finish in the 3000m in which she set a new personal best time of 9:15.47. That mark ranks tops among all C-USA competitors this season and is good enough for 13th in the nation.
Jensen also played a key role in helping the Owls rally to win the distance medley relay, running the final leg that defeated Texas A&M with a finish of 11:35.52 (tops in C-USA).
The Owls have one more meet this Friday at the Howie Ryan Invitational before the C-USA Indoor Championships take place Feb. 18-19 in Birmingham, AL.
