(From RunnersWorld.com) - Former Rice Owl great Becky Wade, who won December’s California International Marathon at age 24 after a year-long international fellowship, has signed a sponsorship contract with Asics.
With her debut victory at Cal International in Sacramento in 2:30:41, Wade, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate, became the third fastest American woman marathoner under age 25 in history. She was the fifth fastest American of 2013, and the only one in the top five under age 30.
“In my young career I have already had incredible experiences that have helped me grow as a competitor,” said Wade. “I look forward to reaching new milestones in 2014, and feel confident as ever knowing I have this remarkable support every step of the way.”
