Rice senior Lennie Waite has been named the Conference USA Co-Female Athlete of the Week for track after her performance last weekend at the Houston Invitational.
Waite scorched the field in the 3000 meters, winning in a personal-best time of 9:27.55 which was a provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks as the 13th fastest time in the country. She shares the weekly honor with Christie Jones of Houston.
The senior from Austin leads the conference in both the 3000 meters and in the mile (4:47.40). Her time in the mile currently ranks 24th in the nation.
