2009 Houston Invite Results

Lennie Waite blazed her way to a provisional qualifying mark of 9:27.55 to highlight the efforts of the Rice women at the Houston Invitational Track and Field meet at the Yeoman Fieldhouse at the University of Houston.

Waite's time was a personal best and the fifth-fastest in the country this season. It highlighted a sweep of the top five spots in the race by Owls. She was followed by Nicole Mericle (9:46.99), Allison Pye (9:49.28), Britany Williams (9:53.23) and Becky Wade (9:53.85).

Waite's win was capped a run of individual wins by the Owls in the running events from 200 to 3,000 meters. Shakera Reece took the 200 (24.86), Sarah Lyons the 400 (56.99), freshman Keltie John took the 800 (2:14.18) and Wade won the mile (4:56.13).
