HOUSTON, Texas - Rice sophomore Leslie Schilsky earned 2309 points in the women's heptathlon on the opening day of the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday at Holloway Field and Ley Track.
Schilsky finished 13th in both the 200m dash and shot put, while placing 14th in both the 100m hurdles and high jump.
UTEP's Jallycia Pearson will take the overall lead into Friday with 3372 points after winning the 100m hurdles, high jump and shot put. UAB's Akira Smith sits in second place with 3154 points while Marshall's Elaine Derricott is in third with 3149 points.
Day two of the decathlon will begin Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by the women's hammer at 5 p.m. and the 10,000 at 8:45 p.m.
