Orlando -- The Rice Owls women's track and field team sits in second place with 39 points heading into Sunday's final day of action at the Conference USA Track and Field Outdoor Championship, held at UCF's Track and Soccer Complex. SMU leads the 12-team field with 50 points.

"Overall, I thought we performed pretty good today," commented Rice head coach Jim Bevan. "On Sunday, though, we have to be nails as this is a great five-way battle for the team championship. We need to rise to the occasion."

The Rice Owls went 1-2 in the pole vault to tally 18 points. Ariana Ince cleared a winning mark of 3.87m/12-8.25, while Cleona Oliver placed second at 3.77m/12-4.5. For Ince, it was her second C-USA pole vault crown, as she also won the 2010 C-USA Indoor crown. Kade Devine was 11th and Casie Wilson 12th both at 3.17m/10-4.75.

"Ari (Ince) and Cleona (Oliver) were great under adverse wind conditions," said Bevan.
