The Rice Field and Track Meet was held at Holloway Field at Ley Track on Wednesday on the Rice campus. It served as a nice tune up for the Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championship next week in Orlando, Fla. and featured competitors from the University of Houston, Texas A&M, and Rice.
Tina Robinson snapped her own school record in the hammer throw with a winning-mark of 52.89m. Her previous best was 52.14m. Katie Dollinger was third at 49.30m as Brittany Brown finished fourth (44.53) and Sharae Robinson fifth (41.66m).
The Owls had three runners in the 200m with Candace Springer finishing fourth (25.95), Lillian Nwora was fourth at 26.37, and Sarah Agara was sixth with a time of 26.92. The 200m race was won by former Owl Allison Beckford with a time of 24.87. Maya Kirk placed seventh in the 400m with a time of 1:01.47.
The 800m race featured four runners, all of them Rice Owls. Sophie Peeters captured first (2:13.58) and Addie Quinn was second at 2:15.08. Placing third was Heather Olson (2:24.30) and fourth was Sarah Mason (2:27.27).
In 100m hurdles, Kimberly Stanford placed second with a time of 14.37. Bridget Ugo (15.22) and Alex Gibbs (15.38) were fourth and fifth respectively. Shannon Moran also placed seventh (16.20). Soujourner Brown posted a time of 1:03.42 in the 400m hurdles and finished first after UH's Tatianna Miller and Alysha Cook did not finish.
Tiffany Gill posted a 1.58m mark in the high jump to win the event. Bridget Ugoh and Shannon Moran tied for second at 1.53m. Moran was also fifth in the long jump at 5.78m and Sarah Agara was sixth (5.48m). Placing seventh was Britney Blodget (5.38m) and eighth was Bridget Ugo at 5.23m.
Tina Robinson led Rice in the shot put with a third-place mark of 12.65m. Brittany Brown was fourth (12.59m), Sharae Robinson was fifth with a season-best 12.39m, and Katie Dollinger placed sixth (12.24m).
Brown won the discus with a mark of 42.33m. Sharae Robinson was third (41.18m) and Tin Robinson fourth (40.11m).
