Houston - Several Rice Owls women's track and field athletes posted outstanding marks and times at the J.Fred Duckett/Rice Twilight held at the newly renamed Holloway Field and Ley Track.
Candace Springer ran a season-best 12.49 in the 100m (12th) and season-fast time of 25.65 in the 200m (13th).
In the 400m, the Owls were led by Sarah Lyons' fifth-place time of 57.88, which is her fastest time of 2010 and Lillian Nwora finished sixth at 57.98. Sprinter Shakera Reece ran a rare 400m race and posted a time of 58.71 to place 12th. Maya Kirk posted a time of 58.81 (13th), which is her 2010 best time.
Rice placed first, second, and third in the 800m. Vicki Walker won the race in season-best 2:09.68. Sophie Peeters (2:12.74) was second with her season-best, and Keltie John (2:14.13) was third. Halsey Fowler was sixth at 2:14.52, while Addie Quinn (2:14.90) placed eighth. Freshman Sarah Mason placed 22nd (2:23.82).
Britany Williams led a 1-2 finish for the Owls in the 1500m with a time of 4:30.09. Heather Olson was second with her season-best time of 4:31.56. Allison Pye (4:36.95) and Halsey Fowler (4:37.04) finished fifth and sixth respectively. Claire Shorall was 10th (4:39.90) and Marie Thompson was 12th (4:41.63) and freshman Georgina Norton clocked in at 5:13.58.
Britney Blodget placed seventh in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.22, while Shannon Moran was 14th at 15.87. Sojourner Brown placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.09, while Blodget was 15th (1:06.64).
In the women's pole vault, sophomore Cleona Oliver claimed first place with a personal-best mark of 3.85m/12-7.5, while the Owls' Ari Ince placed second also at 3.85m/12-7.5. Freshman Casie Wilson was fifth (3.20m/10-6) and Kade Devine jumpe a personal-best 3.20m/10-6 tied for ninth.
Sara Agara was third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.04m/39-6.
The Owls went 7-8-9 in the shot put. Brittany Brown was seventh (12.80m/42-0), Katie Dollinger was eighth with a season-best mark of 12.60m/41-4.25 and Tina Robinson was ninth (12.58m/41-3.25). Sharae Robinson finished 11th (11.70m/38-4.75).
T.Robinson led Rice with a fourth-place finish in the discus at 42.37m. Brown was fifth at 41.81m and S. Robinson was sixth with a season-best 41.44m. In the hammer throw, Dollinger led Rice with a second-place and season-best mark of 51.13m. T.Robinson was fourth (50.79m), Brown fifth (45.37m) and S. Robinson seventh with a season-high 42.93m. In the javelin, Ari Ince placed third with a mark of 41.76m/137-0.
