Houston - Junior thrower Sharae Robinson was excellent with two first places at the ninth annual J.Fred Duckett Twlight Meet held Saturday night and hosted by Rice at Holloway Field/Ley Track.

Robinson won the hammer throw with the third-best performer mark in school history with a distance of 51.65m/169-5 to win the event. Her older sister, Krystal holds the school record at 53.13m/174-1 set in 2010, and Katie Dollinger follows at 53.00m/173-11 also in 2010. Brittany Brown placed fifth with a distance of 45.62m/149-8.

Robinson was not finished as she also won the discus event with a mark of 47.88m/157-1. Claire Uke placed second (44.77m/146-10) and Olivia Williams was third (42.84m/140-7).

Uke, also captured the shot put event with a season-best mark of 15.58m/51-1.5, while Williams placed seventh with a distance of 12.05m/39-6.5.

The Owls went 1-2 in the pole vault with Cleona Oliver first and freshman Marielle Brisbois second. Oliver posted a height of 3.80m/12-5.5,while Brisbois went 3.65m/11-11.75. Casie Wilson was fourth (3.50m/11-5.75) and Chaney Turney was seventh (3.50m/11-5.75).

Sprinter Candace Springer had two top-10 finishes. Springer was first in the 200m with a time of 24.09 and she was sixth in the 100m (12.09). In the 1500m, Allison Pye, a senior, was third with a time of 4:31.90 and freshman Allie Schaich was right on her heels in fourth (4:32.29).

"For it being the last week of classes I was extremely happy and proud as we had a bunch of personal-best marks," stated head coach Jim Bevan. "Our throwers did an incredible job in winning three events - the hammer, the discus, and the shot put. Sharae Robinson did great job with the third-best performer mark at Rice. It was a nice night for the meet and I'm very happy with where we are at the moment."
