LAWRENCE, Kan. - Rice junior thrower Claire Uke recorded her third victory of the outdoor season with a winning throw of 16.11m (52-10.25) on the final day of the Kansas Relays Saturday afternoon.
Uke saved her best for last, winning the event on her final throw. She was joined in the winner's circle by senior Heather Olson, who picked up her third career victory in the 3000m steeplechase in a time of 4:45.49. The victory for Olson was her first since last season's Mt. SAC Relays.
Other highlights from the Owls included a PR and team season-best distance in the long jump from Daisy Ding, recording a mark of 5.61m (18-5.00). Cybil Obiozor also set a PR in the long jump with a distance of 5.41m (17-9.00). Kathleen Abadie also finished in the top half of the 3000m steeplechase with a sixth place finish (11:34.54).
Rice will next be back in action on Saturday, April 26 when they host the J. Fred Duckett Twilight beginning at 12 p.m.
