Walnut, Calif. -- At the 51st Mt. SAC Relays, three Rice distance runners set personal records at the famed track and field event at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Senior Lennie Waite improved her own school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a third-place time of 10:00.30, which is 12.01 seconds faster than her school mark. Also, Nicole Mericle was sixth with a time of 10:07.13, which is her personal-best in that event.
In the 10,000m, sophomore Becky Wade finished sixth with the second fastest time in Rice history at 33:49.45.
"I'm really proud of our distance runners today," said Rice head coach Jim Bevan. "All three competed and had outstanding performances with lifetime bests."
