NORWALK, Calif. - Rice junior distance runner Cali Roper set an NCAA Nationals qualifying mark for a third consecutive season by placing fifth among collegiate runners in the 10,000m INV elite race at the Mt. SAC Relays late Thursday evening.
Roper's time of 34:05.21 is the best in Conference USA and the second-best mark of her career.
Former Rice All-American Becky Wade won the event running for Asics with a splendid time of 32:49.24.
In addition, Rice junior distance runner Katie Jensen finished 15th in the 10,000m Collegiate "A" section with a mark of 35:19.41.
Sophomore Elsa Racasan is scheduled to run the 1500m collegiate open Friday afternoon.
