NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Rice junior Tyneisha McCoy finished second in the women's 200m dash, placed sixth in the 100m dash and was the final leg of the 4x100 relay team that placed second on the final day of the Skechers Carl Knight Invitational Saturday evening on the campus of Stephen F. Austin.
McCoy, a native of Houston, Texas, ran a 24.51 in the 200m and a 12.01 in the 100m. She later joined Simone Martin, Eboni Sutherland and Precious Knighton to place second in the 4x100 relay with a mark of 46.32, just behind the foursome of SFA. Sutherland also had a top-five finish individually, placing fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.73.
Rice also got a top-five performance from freshman Ellen Diemert in the 800m (2:16.60), a personal best from Ontario native.
Freshman thrower Ijeoma Ugwunze began the afternoon with a fourth place finish in the discus (44.72m) and took fifth in the shot put (13.69m).
The Owls finished fourth as a team with 66 total points.
Rice will be back in action next Saturday, April 12 when they travel to Austin to partake in the Texas Invitational. Competition begins at 10:30 a.m.
